Karur Stampede

A massive crowd at actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) campaign rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, surged and collapsed into a crush, leading to at least 39 deaths and dozens of injuries. Officials said the gathering swelled far beyond control near Velusamypuram/Karur–Erode highway, with heat, congestion, and a late arrival contributing to panic and people fainting and falling as others pressed forward.
We deeply mourn the untimely passing of the men, women, and children who lost their lives in the tragic stampede that occurred in Karur, Tamil Nadu, on 27 September 2025.
Our hearts go out to the bereaved families during this time of immense grief. We join the community in remembering and honouring those who are no longer with us. Their lives and stories will not be forgotten.
